Scope and Contents Note
The Scrapbook Collection contains newspaper and magazine clippings, dated 1926-2001, which relate in some way to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Most of the articles are from local publications, but there is also a number of regional, national, and international publications. Articles detail the Nelson and Atkins bequests that started the museum, the Nelson family, Mary Atkins, construction of the museum and its opening, acquisition of art, programs, events, staff, and other museum news. To a lesser degree, articles relate to art and the art community in Kansas City.
