Administrative/Biographical Sketch
The Art Study Club was started by twenty-two women, in June of 1922, in Kansas City, Missouri. The club was meant for the study and appreciation of the fine arts. The group met monthly from October until May, often at the Kansas City Art Institute which served as a center for local and loan exhibitions until the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art opened in 1933. They had guest speakers, toured local museums, watched art-related films, and occasionally sponsored lectures. Over the years, the club also donated money, drawings, and library books to The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.
