Scope and Contents Note

From the Series:

This series is comprised of materials pertaining to the research, planning, and programming associated with some of the department’s major exhibitions between 1989-2001 and is arranged by exhibition date and then alphabetically by filename. The bulk of this series relates to Native American Art from Conception Abbey Collection (January 10th – September 11th, 1988) which showcased objects from Conception Abbey’s (Conception, MO) permanent collection, The Intelligence of Forms: An Artist Collects African Art (October 6th – November 24th, 1991) which was also initially referred to as “Intelligence of the Heart: An Artist Collects African Art”, and Inventing the Southwest: The Fred Harvey Company and Native American Art, (October 30th, 1997 – January 1st, 1998) which focused on The Fred Harvey Company and some of the first Native American objects purchased by the museum in the early 1930s. Materials include correspondence, loan agreements, object information, research, publicity, programming, and photographs.
