Photographs, 1953
Scope and Contents Note
This series is comprised of a travel journal, maps, photographs, postcards, and miscellaneous travel ephemera. The travel journal records her 100-day trip “around the world” in 1960 that included Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, India, Iran, Turkey, Greece, and Spain. Photographs are primarily of travels in the United Kingdom, France, and Italy; the presence of images from London labeled “coronation practice” date these to around 1953, when Queen Elizabeth II was crowned. The maps are from the western half of the United States, British Columbia, Mexico, Tehran, and Athens. The postcards are from the United Kingdom, Sweden, Japan, India, Spain, Greece, Iran, Egypt, and Turkey. Miscellaneous ephemera includes hotel receipts, a booklet from the 1953 coronation of Elizabeth II and photographs of Windsor Castle, literature for tourists in Tokyo and a book of Japanese recipes, among other items.
